Name: Piet van der Poel
Since 1993, Piet has worked off and on as advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture of Bhutan, covering topics from geomorphology to community based natural resources management, shortly anything goes. And so it does for his cycling. He has ridden road bikes, MTB's and heavy Indian Hero's across Bhutan on-road as well as off-road, clocking more than 10,000 km and still going strong. He is probably the only one having done the 3000+ m climb from Lingmethang to Thrumshing La twice. Actually, he is 77 years old, half blind, pleasantly disturbed and has a wooden leg. It has not stopped him.

Name: Rinzin Ongdra Wangchuk
Rinzin is the spark behind introducing Mountain Biking in Bhutan. Founder of the Bhutan Mountain Biking Club and Bhutan’s first bicycle mechanic trained in Colorado Springs. A travel operator and trekking guide since 1997. He spends most of his time identifying trails and gathering information for the Club and geting more Bhutanese to cycle. |

Membership:
Anyone can become a member of the Bhutan Mountain Biking Club. Of course, you will need to have a bicycle of your own.
Membership fee is Nu: 1500 per annum. This goes towards your bicycle maintenance.
If you want a Membership Identity Card , an additional Nu: 350 per annum will be charged.
Bicylces and spares are also available for sale. You can also rent a cycle if you are in Thimphu.
